I finally took down the old temporary web site and got this one finished. I sure appreciate any commments.

Be well,

Mark Roe

Good Job Mark. Keep adding to it as you go and it will be full of knives before too long :):thumbup:

Thank for the compliment. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of several knives and am regretting it. I expect I'll have a bunch up soon.

Mark
the first thing I see is I can't see the whole front page and there is no way to scroll down that one page..
also dang you shouldn't have a problem selling knives for those prices..

nice looking work for what I can see...:thumbup: looking good..

Wow Mark ! Thats a really nice look . Very professional looking.And like Brian said , content will come . It is amazing just how much time it takes to get everything " Published??" Some people just have a knack for what looks good & what doesn't on a website.You got it :) I don't :confused:

Dan,

Do you mean on the opening page? I made it small enough to hopefully fit everyone's screen. Heck if I know how to fit it. It looks great on my screen.

David,

I sure would have traded having a good looking site for me pictured behind that bear on your web site. Too hot here this spring and I didn't see a single one. With all this rain, the fall should be great. Drew a moose permit on my 3rd try this year - YESSSS. I am a former Michigander and actually married one.

I sure appreciate the compliments.

it could be the program you used is not compatible with all browsers..
if you wrote it in HTML it would or should fit most all of them..

hey way to go on the permit..
I've had one here...:thumbup:

You have a beautiful site there, Mark. I love the layout and the color scheme. I do have a couple of suggestions though if you're interested.

It might be a good idea to give the user some feedback as to where they are on the site, by maybe highlighting the links on rollover and on the open page. Or maybe putting a title on the page to confirm that they got to the link they were going for.

Also for all those colorblind folks. The beautiful butterscotch background is a little dark with the black type and is slightly difficult to read. Maybe you could lighten it up just a smidge to allow more contrast and facilitate easier readability.

Lastly, the white outline you are using is really nice and would really set off the photos as well.

Please don't take this as criticism. I just thought it might add a little to an already successful design.

Your knives are well represented. Keep up the good work!

Mark , I would give my eye teeth for a chance at a Moose Hunt !! We have got quite a few in these parts now , but , according to the DNR , not a huntable population , YET :D . I have spent quite a bit of time on Isle Royale in the middle of Lake Superior . I was 20 yds from a Huge Bull that looked to be about 12' tall at the shoulders (it wasn't,but it sure seemed that big :eek: ). Very impressive animals , and from what I hear , TASTY . Looks like a guy would need to buy a new freezer though if he filled the tag.
Dan,I think you're correct about the browser thing.When you mentioned about not being able to scroll I had to go back and look again.No problems here,everything looked good.Just out of curiosity are you using something other than IE as your browser ?

Mark,
I was recently on another maker's website and they had most of the available handle material pictured on the website. Extremely handy for someone that may not know exactly what they are looking for. How can you sell your knives for that price? Do you have elves in your basement working for cookies?
Matt Doyle

Wow, thanks for all the feedback.

CLW3, I will do some fiddling in FrontPage and see if I can make some changes. I like all of your suggestions.

David, I know what you mean about the moose size. I saw two bull battling last year and I swear the victor was the size of a VW bus. A new freezer is being looked at.

Matt, I hadn't thought about the handle material idea. I'll see what kind of pics I can put together and see how it fits. As far as the elves....no basement, just a really short crawl space.

Mark when you said "FrontPage" that's it I'm sure.. it's not a HTML write type program for IE if I am corect
Dave yes IE

yes Moose taste better than Deer for sure. up here then can be 900- and up to 1100 pounds

mark your page starts out with

<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<title>Pack River Knife Company</title>
<style type="text/css">
html, body {height: 100%; overflow:hidden}
#main{
width: 100%;
height: 95%;
border: none;
you have on your front page and not the others
"100%; overflow:hidden"
I think that's the problem

with front page or similar you work on the front side we that write HTML work under the hood sorta speak ..

one of mine starts like this

<HTML><HEAD>
<TITLE>Gray Knives, Hand Made Custom Knives, Offering a complete line of fixed blade, custom cutlery, built one at a time strong and functional offering custom hand made Knife sheaths, custom ivory folders, and custom Knife Makers web pages, hunting knives in damascus knife blades, custom knife makers, www. grayknives.com</TITLE>
<META NAME="description" CONTENT="Gray Knives Offering a complete line of fixed blade, custom cutlery, built one at a time strong and functional, This web site will show you the many varieties of blades I make, from exotic hard woods and horns to Ivorys I use for handles, and different styles of my custom sheaths">
<META NAME="keywords" content="custom knives, custom handmade knives, Knifes sheaths, custom Knife makers, hunting knives, damascus knife blades, custom knife sheath makers, www.grayknives.com, tree stump leather sheaths, maine made art knives, holsters, wild rose trading com, tree stump leather,Gray knives">
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="ALL">
<meta name="ROBOTS" content="INDEX,FOLLOW">
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="ALL">
<META NAME="revisit-after" CONTENTS="10 days">

</HEAD>

this is meta that the engines and directories see not the surfer
IMO you'll have a problem listed with them also..

Many thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. I made some changes...thumbnail pics with white border, etc and Dan can now see my opening page properly. :thumbup:

Be well,
