Hey guys, so my scout troop and I are going to philmont in a year and I wanted to get a new pack, originally I was looking at the kelty red cloud 90 but then I thought that if I was going to spend that much money on a pack why not get the Becker patrol pack wich I have been wanting for a while now, ok enough with the rambling, my question for you guys is how does the BPP hold to back packing, does it have a frame if not is there a way I can buy one, also how comfortable is it to carry on a hike(most likely 70+ miles)? Or are there any others that you would recommend?
All input is extremely welcome and thanks in advance

Yeah I read it
I was primarily asking about personal experience with the BPP and how comfortable it was is to carry

The smaller BPP does not have a frame per say. It does have a thin foam pad. The larger BPP has the foam pad and a plastic frame sheet with aluminum stays. Check out my write up in the BPP thread. It shows the differences between the large and regular BPP.

As for comfort, in my opinion they are not as comfortable as a dedicated backpacking pack from Osprey, Gregory, or any of those brands. It will also not be as light. Can the BPP do the job? Yes, but it wouldn't be my first pick.

With that said I still love my BPPs for some applications.
