I asked for a paintbull gun for my birthday, and today I happily unwrappeda Tippmann A5 and a starter kit with a nice mask, a duffel bag/back pack, a good number of paintballs, and maintenance stuff. Very cool gun! It seems to be very well-made, and no paintballs got popped in the barrel so it's working quite smoothly. It's a lot of fun to shoot, but it was dark out and cold so shooting it should be a lot better in the morning. A few of my friends get together and play in the woods so I'm planning on getting together with them for the next game.

What mask do you have? If it isn't comfortable when you first put it on, it'll totally uncomfortable and really really suck when you play. And wear it for a while to see if it fogs as well.

Have fun.

Definitely check your mask...Hopefully you have a Thermal lens in your mask cause regular lenses tand to fog up at the tiniest bit of moisture. Also be sure to bring a squeegy with you if your playing woods ball this time of year in the NE as the weather makes the balls very brittle and they break easily when kept outside while playing for some time. A-5 if a great gun and will shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger with that cyclone feed. Also if you play outside you may have some trouble with CO2 this time of year so if your near a house i suggest you leave your gear inside until the last moment. Have fun and be safe! Glad to see more participants in this great sport!

Hey guys, I have the JT ProFlex 05 (red). The glass is theremal, and they don't seem to fog up.

Nice. Always go with thermal lenses...if you dont you'll wish you had in mid game on a slightly humid day.

A friend wants some of my el cheapo CCC knives, which are just laying around, for a paintball gun. I'm not really that interested. I think he has one of those Walmart specials , the plastic ones, but I could've lucked out. I've read a lot about Tippmans recently, and they are supposed to last forever.

I've seen two hoppers shatter on the A5. It's not a common off the shelf replacement part It's a good gun, reliable, but in the cold, that hopper may get brittle.

The original Tippmans are like the AK-47's of paintball...reliable, affordable, everywhere and GREAT! Cant go wrong with a tippman for strating out.
