Hey all,
Finished up a new sheath for my HI Tamang. This is my fist attempt at making a sheath. I have been thinking of doing it, and decided to jump in and see if I could. I still have a lot to learn but I think this came out pretty good. I need to finish up the edges a bit more and a few small things but wanted to post it. I saw the thread on the farm knife with new pants, and thought I would incorporate a few things to mine, for instance I used a shackle between the sheath and the belt loop, it gives the sheath a very nice balance hanging, and allows it to move with you. Overall im very happy with the end result and looking forward to my next project. Sorry for the poor quality pics, it's storming here and could not get outside. Thanks for looking.

And here was I thinking that I would find something... inappropriate. :p

Looks neat and functional. It is interesting to see compare a western-style sheath.

Great set up:) You have a real talent for bending leather:thumbup:

Looks like a good fit. Is the back of the sheath plain or do you have a set-up where you attach a leg strap?

Thanks gents,
Was fun making it.
Suicycoprowler - it is plain in the back, I could put one on, but not sure yet.

Nice looking sheath.

Where did you get the leather from? I am planing on making one, but am having trouble finding a place to get the leather I need. I can;t find any local places, and all the ones on line seem to want you to buy a 23 square foot piece for around $150, and won't sell small pieces.

Thanks for the comments guys.
MIB - I got the leather on ebay, was not top quality, but it worked very nice for what I am doing and like you said it was not a ton of money and was big enough to get a few sheaths out of.

Thanks for sharing your great work with us again pugs. A really good looking sheath you put together there. I like that shackle, too.

I just checked ebay. I found ebay user rowen12 (who seems to run a leather store)

They will sell it by the square foot. Who did you buy it from?

And thanks for the idea of checking ebay.

EDIT: And also, what ounce leather did you use?
