I've been looking at some spyderco knives I'm interested in. The delica4,chapperal, the manix 2 lightweight. And just a little bit ago I saw that the para 3 is now going to be offered in a lightweight version.
That is something very interesting and looks like the price is gonna be right with the others I listed. So many options to choose from. I really want the manix 2,but of the others it is a hard choice.
What would be your choice?? I'm leaning toward the para 3 over the delica and chapperal.

I'd take a regular Para over a Chapp and Delica and would take a regular Manix 2 (G10) over a LW Para 3.
I don't like FRN and I prefer the Compression lock over backlocks.

Manix 2 is significantly bigger than the others. If you prefer smaller (but not very small) knives, Manix 2 is out of the window. Now among chap, delica, and para 3, if you want a thin slicer, I believe the first two are thinner than para 3. Another thing to consider is compression lock vs back lock.

I've got a few backlocks and they are very good locks. I haven't had any experience with the compression lock but it looks like it would be very sturdy

I like back lock. It is strong and secure. The down side is it is not as easy and quick to close as other locks like frame lock, liner lock, and compression lock. Spyderco compression lock is also very good. I believe it is stronger than liner lock. You definitely should try it out.

I cannot grip a Para 3 with more than three fingers behind the choil, but I can with the Manix 2. That's something to consider, if that matters to you. Or get the Delica without the choil, like a proper knife...uh, just my opinion.
