i really want one of the shifts but i know i wont carry it. i always buy a modern knife, carry it a few days then go back to carrying a slip joint or 501.

I have never owned one. sure like the looks can't help but think a 3.25 or 3.5 blade would just be better all around.

I got an assist one coming from Buck and an auto I bought through Larrys program coming, so guess ill find out.

ahh gotcha. thanks. I see they are different shapes of the handle and blade. thanks for posting new and old together.

I never had an original. so I guess I'll find out how I like the new without any experience to compare to.

For the old timers here, the stag handle one came from Plumber Dave. I bought it from his son along with some other knives after Dave passed...

The older version is more like the vantage shape handle and blade. I agree with you, I like the older ones better than the new version.

Makael How do you feel they are "smoother" ? The two new ones I have are a bit stiff, and yes they need to break in.

The action is fairly smooth with no catch when you rock the bolster and flip the blade. Just a bit more refined. The black auto version flies open when rocker is swung over.
