Hi,

Just received this from Courty et fils. Blade length = 2 1/4 inches; Overall = 5 7/8 inches

The sheath was rectangular, which I shaped on the grinder to fit more nicely in my pocket. I put the keyring on to help pull it from the sheath without slicing my hand :p (I will just be keeping this loose in my front pocket rather than tied to a cord). I don't intend this for SD... just a small fixed blade for general use.

I hadn't seen this design from Fred Perrin before... nice and simple, and not quite as "fighty-looking" as some.

I'm also expecting a new Dozier small Folding Hunter in stag in the next few days... I'll be sure to post pics (just wish I could take better photos).

Mike,
Any thoughts about what steel in it? Which model at the French site is it?

I'm not certain of the steel, however on BladeArt many of his knives are listed as either 1050 or 1095 forged carbon steel.

In a previous thread about another of my Perrin purchases (I seem to be collecting them, as well as Doziers!), Mr. Perrin said that he used 1075 steel for the Street Bowie that I had:

Esav has posted a link to the specific knife at Courty et fils.

Is it ground on both sides?

No... just the one side. That seems to be the most common way for him to grind them, although I recall seeing variations on the BladeArt site.

It is extremely sharp. It was almost disapponting, as it made me realize that I didn't do as nice of a sharpening job on a couple of other blades as I thought that I had!
