Just wanted to brag about my new toy, and it just so happens that BOTH of my friends are outta town. (Nevermind that all they do is look at me kinda wierd and say "that's very nice...." in the same tone they'd use if I was describing a conversation with my imaginary best friend anyways)

So, I figured I'd post it here.... It can be seen here:

I got the Medium one with the Scimitar blade.

I LOVE MY STREET BOWIE!!! I don't know what it is about Perrins being so delightfully...uhmmmm....errr....well.... crude that grabs me, but damn this knife is great! it just became my new EDC! It's incredibly lightweight, very secure grip, and the most versatile blade I've ever owned. (I didn't think they got better than my Spyderco SB) I think I'm even gonna keep carrying it this winter, during the season that my BK 5 or Trailmaster get to see the light of day, and becomes my EDC.

It's incredibly handy in the kitchen, whittle quite well and is quite utilitarian, and it's just flat out comfortable. It's also more...confidence inspiring than most of the knives I've owned. So far I've been happiest carrying it on my right side in a reverse grip draw, but, I'm still tinkering with it.

Besides just plain enjoying it I'm not sure of my future plans for my new little toy. I'm very much considering a convex edge on it, and I'm still scratching my head regarding the cord wrap. Kinda a love/hate thing. If the cord ever wears out or gets mucked up beyond cleaning the knife could very well find itself sporting a pretty pair of wooden grips.

Anyhoo, just wanted to thump my chest a little, (at least I'm honest!) and see what everyone else thinks of these.

I have the large scimitar & a bunch of others from Fred. As you might guess I love the street Bowie, my first fb04 is numbered 203

I have a normal Street Bowie that was made by one of Fred's top students, Pepe. Awesome knife! I like the scimitar, too. May have to get one of those, too! :D Fred makes knives with soul, which is not easy to find.

Got a question for y'all folks that are more familiar with Mr. Perrins work...

Any idea how hard he makes his edges? I've been carryin' mine all week, and it seems to be dulling quite a bit quicker than most of my other knives. It always comes back with just a few licks on a set of crock sticks. and a quick stropping, sometimes even just a stropping alone. So.....is this just the nature of the beast perhaps? I'm certainly not complaining, I like the knife well enough that I'm quite willing to deal with an idiosyncracy or two, but I am a little curious...

Thanks!

I just got my Spyderco Perrin yesterday and I am thrilled with it. Can't even imagine how wicked a real one would be.
Hope I get to post here about a street bowie of me own sometime soon.

Enjoy it

That doesn't sound like dulling, it sounds like a rolled edge. You've got to clean off the wire edge instead of just straightening it up. Hit it that few licks on the crock sticks at a high angle to break off the wire, then strop it sharp and it should last all week and more. :D

I also just received my Spyderco Perrin and would suggest anyone to wanting to purchase this knife that you hustle on over to Spyderco's web site as they are having a closeout sale(black blade version only)for $49.95 with free shipping.
