Over the past couple of weeks, I've been developing a new design I call the "Scimtac". I've built several renditions, and finally came up with something I really like.

Here are some photos of the last prototype:

This frame-lock folder has a flat ground BG42 blade, stainless thumb disc, and my special 3-piece suit overlays in ivory Micarta.®

The blade needs to be heat treated, but I thought I'd give you a preview of the design anyway! :)

Tom, that is kickass!!! Always loved your stuff and owned a few. Will you make more "Tactical" G 10 versions?

I really like a knive with some curves, Very Nice! Just wondering what your influences were. I noticed even your "Hombre" had a kind of "Scimitar" kind of feel to it. While the curved blade and slight curve of the grip is Middle Eastern the more the grip is Pistol Gripped its more of a Indo-Malay Keris style. Ive even heard arguments that the Keris influnced the grip of the first handguns, Its interesting to try and sort all the diffrent styles of the Malay-Indonesian-Phillipino blades as there was so much influence by Islamist and Spanish traders mixed with local daily life.

Nice Work!

Thanks, everyone! :)

Terry: The frame is bead blast on this one.

Rich: I have one I've already started with black G-10 overlays.

dekdek: Although one could cite several cultural influences, I just drew until the design looked "right" to me.

There are a number of differences between this design and my previous designs. Most notably, the use of a thumb disc opener and the abscense of a "Spanish notch" in the blade. Like my "Hombre" folder, the shape of the grip indexes well in your hand.

Love the design...clearly well thought-out.

Do you have a pic of it closed?

Vary Nice.
I've always liked the persian style.
I'm getting a little closer to that shop visit....They are delivering my mill next week and as soon as I get it all squared away we can set it up.
