I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer.
I have not posted anything in awhile and thought I would put up my latest piece. This is the first time I have worked with Abalone and am very pleased with the results. I hope to use more in the future and spend some time experimenting with other materials.
Thanks for looking!

oh man, that is so nice!

STUNNING!!! No doubt you have made your dad extremely proud...

To make a piece so technically difficult, yet so clean and elegant, is an amazing achievement. FANTASTIC WORK!!! :)

Another beautiful work of art by Elizabeth Loerchner!

It's both wonderful and astonishing.

Elizabeth, it's absolutely WONDERFUL. Thanks for showing us this magnificent piece. Hope you will be accompanying your father to AKI!

Best,

Bob Betzner

wow
I normally do not like knives with lots of lines, varying patterns, but that is so proudly vibrant and crisp, yet smoothly flowing and blended. That piece actually moves me like a good painting. Definitely one of my top ten knives now. Tells us more, any build pics?

"Elegant" sprang to mind for me as well. Great blend of curves and integration of materials. The swirls in the damascus and the abalone look like they were made together to be part of this knife.

Think you should give the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art a call.

A magnificent piece that should be seen by as many people as possible.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. One of the most rewarding parts of making knives is being able to share something that others can enjoy.

Zachtateknives - Unfortunately I have no working pics. This is something I have never done, but will definitely consider it.
The specs on the knife are: Overall length - 7 3/4" Blade length - 3 1/2". The inlays are made of stainless damascus and abalone.
When I first saw the abalone, I fell in love with it right away. I wanted to create a knife that had plenty of depth to compliment the depth and layers of the abalone. Maybe I just got lucky and found a good piece, but it was a pleasure to work with.

Betzner - Yes, I hope to be visiting the AKI with my father. I am looking very forward to this and seeing everyone there.

My simple mind has a hard time comprehending the beauty of this knife but I know I really like it :)

Tremendous work
