Well, I found this wood working store a little while back. They have an uber selection of sharpening supplies, and good pricing. I went today, and got myself a 1000 grit Shapton glass stone. I also picked up a big stick of the green compound that they carry.
As required, I came directly home, and used both immediately. I took a used Delica that I have, and used this progression: DMT fine, Spyderco brown stone, and Shapton 1k Glass. Then green compound on a strop. The end result? A mirror polished razor, that cuts like hell. I am buying me some more Shaptons, as soon as I can! They also produce a very different edge. One that does not suck!
As a side note, the DMT fine, and Spyderco brown, are both 600 grit. Yet, they cut very differently, and produce a different edge. At least it seems to me that way.
