After way too much time spent thinking about it, I bought a D'Allara Rescue to go with the DoDo as an EDC pair.

This thing is a sleeper-tank. My Manix is obvious about it, but this is a solid piece of work! Nice job Spyderco.

I would love to see this same construction in PE, and more of an aggressive Wharnecliff blade.

Glad you like the D'Allara, too! I carry one every day at work, and keep it factory-sharp as my designated emergency blade. A Spyderench with SE blade serves as the utility cutter.

I have tried to carry the D'Allara when not working, but for some reason the round shape of the scales bother me more when I'm in my off-duty attire (blue jeans). Have "had" to resort to carrying a flatter profiled knife (like the ATR) in it's place. I also carry a PE Dodo for EDC cutting with the ATR.

Hi Hawkbill:

I know what you mean. I've taken to carrying bigger Spydies in a small gear bag (always with me), whenever the pants, belt, jacket pocket, etc. won't do. That, and I use a small Spydie for a money clip if the pocket would be too obvious.

Best regards.

I was truly pleasantly surprised with the D'Allara when I got it. I traded a really nice piece for it ( no regrets at all). I can not say enough about the Dodo. It ought to nominated short blade of the decade. ;)
