OK, so I know the interest in anything new or especially imported from anywhere but Sweden is low, but I found these for about $20 shipped and figured I could use it for building fences, etc. Plus I like to see what anyone can buy; these are generally well reviewed. The package was waiting for me when I got home from a trip to Missouri this weekend. My first impression was that it is finished as well better than the Plumb carpenters hatchet I had as a kid, now being beat on/used by one of my nephews or even nieces...not sure where it wound up. It also seems like it could be an even better "camp axe" than the carpenters hatchet, with some extra weight, longer handle and a fairly thin profile. It needs sharpening, but I cant wait to get it to the field, though no promises when. If the steel is any good, I'll put a coat of black paint on the head!

Thanks guys, I will update on edge, etc. when I get longer evenings for working on such things. This size will be really useful for my typical outdoor finish work :), and the Vaughn rigger didn't seem to get the good reviews. I still intend to try one of the new Plumb carpenters hatchets, and will also give a Vaughn one a good try, since I do like the Vaughn broad hatchet I got for Christmas, but other than not being made in US I don't have any big problem with Taiwan...
