Hi all, I recently purchased a PM2 in Maxamet after my old S30V model went missing. I made the purchase without knowing anything about Maxamet - I just knew I wanted a PM2 in my pocket again and S30V models seemed to be sold out.

While doing some research afterward, I came across the K390 PM2 and decided to get that as well.

I was comparing the two this evening and noticed that the screw holes in the scales of the Maxamet model are counter-sunk, while those of the K390 model aren't. Other than that, they appear to be identical.

Just wondering if it's a new VS old thing, or particular to the Maxamet model.

Thanks!

P. S. Both were purchased new, one from BladeHQ and the other from BentoBox, so I'm assuming both are legit.

I’ve heard some of the K390 pm2’s have counter-sunk screw holes while some don’t. I have one on the way. I’ll let you know how it is when it gets here.

Mine arrived this morning. It looks as though the screws are counter-sunk but they didn’t go quite deep enough leaving the screw heads ever so slightly proud. Doesn’t bother me at all and in no way affects function. I think it may have been a manufacturing goof specific to this batch of PM2’s.

Thanks for reporting back johnnytoxin johnnytoxin ! Sounds about the same as my example. Interesting that the Maxamet model has such deep counter sinking.

It is interesting that Spyderco scales would vary by model. Typically they have been very consistent and very slight differences in the fine details of scales would thus become a clue of a fake. I'm not in any way saying that yours are fakes, particularly since several of you have the same thing, but I still find it to be interesting.

Yeah, I’m not sure Spyderco’s quality control would have let those out the door. Seems strange.
