New PM2 with stiff pivot

Hi all, I just picked up a new PM2 (my second) and found the pivot to be what I consider abnormally stiff. In addition, one of the clip screws came with a sharp burr on it and was difficult to get tightened when I moved the clip from tip down to up carry. Needless to say I was surprised as I've never had any of their knives exhibit any sort of problem. Is there a way to adjust this or is it likely in need of lube?

I'm not looking for fast "deployment" speed but I would like it to be smooth opening using my thumb. This particular knife is nothing like my others: PM2, Para 3, Manix 2.

Thanks

Where did you buy it from ? Some sellers restock blindly (like Amazon), meaning it could have been messed with.

If you can't exchange it, adjust the Pivot and lock pin.

That's what I suspected but I'm willing to stick with it a bit. I did talk to Spyderco CS as well. They advised break in and maybe lube.
I have never had to adjust anything before so how would I adjust the pivot correctly? I know where the screws are but have no idea how tight they should be.

Remove both pivot screws (T10), and put them back in with a little blue loktite, "finger-tight" first, and then you can tighten/loosen one side to your preference. Usually opening up 1/16 - 1/8th of a turn is enough, or even less. Let the loktite cure for 24h (don't mess with the knife during this). Hope this helps.

Ok thanks. Do you recommend putting any lube on?

The only place that might need lube is where steel is on steel, i.e., the pivot/blade contact. Very likely still has something on. The PB washers are "self-lubricating", in theory don't need anything.

I get grindy action on my pb washer folders from time to time. I just put a dab of mineral oil on a piece of paper and slide it under the scale so it deposits a bit of oil on either of the tang, open and close a few times and the action smooths out.

Paper... that's clever. I usually just drench mine and do all kinds of weird shaking and tilting.

Frankly, I'd send it to Spyderco for verification. I don't trust Amazon, and I trust Optics Planet even less.

This is a good idea, but also maybe it'd be best to just return it if you are questioning it's legitimacy?
That doesn't resolve the issue, it just makes it someone else's problem. Amazon will take a fake back and put it back in stock to sell to someone else. If it is a genuine Spyderco with a genuine problem, they need to see it and they will fix it. If it's a fake, they need to know that as well.

So since I first posted about my concern, I tweeked the pivot screws, put a little electric razor oil on it and have been working it daily. Much better now so thanks for the assistance. When I first took it out of the box it would actually squeek a little when I opened it.
