Hello,

Just got a PM3 delivered today.

Just the standard S30V black G10 satin blade.

I have an older Military, Paramilitary, and Paramilitary 2 also in satin.

The new Para3 satin looks different I can’t see any vertical lines. It’s a very uniform silver. Almost looks like a superfine bead blast or something.

Pretty sure it’s legit. Has the tiny liner notches etc.

I think I remember hearing they switched to stonewash on these, but I could be wrong. It looks very nice to me. Hopefully someone can chime in with a definitive answer.

There are a couple threads on another forum asking this same question. One comment from about a year ago said it had been a recent CQI change and they were coming with a fine stonewash finish. I myself was wondering about this too, as I recently got a Para 3 in S35VN and it has this type of finish, whereas the XHP, Cruwear, and M390 models have the typical satin finish with the grind lines.

I like the finish. Just curious about calling it Satin.

I did read somewhere about some of the sprint run steels being different but this is a std. S30V

Thanks

I have a Lil Native that has the finish you must be talking about. It's almost a dull silver more so than a satin in my opinion. Either way, I like the finish and I think I like it more than the standard Spyderco grind line satin finish.

From the picture above it definitely gives off a stonewashed look. I love a heavy stonewash myself, so I’d be thrilled if this is what’ll be coming out of Golden from now on.

I recently got a para3 serrated that was very recent production and it has the new finish as well. It’s more of a bead blast(like the benchmade presidio 2) than a stonewash finish(like the one on shaman). TBH i much prefer the older finish. This new finish doesn’t wear well, a bit of usual yard works and it’s already showing scratches from moderate uses.
