My County Comm order arrived tonight with a few LED microlights and one of their new Micro Widgy prybars they are selling for $5.

It's a no brainer for PSK's or EDC. It went on my keychain toot-sweet. They have some directions on the web site for wrapping it with paracord, but I like it nekkid-- good and simple.

It goes with an LED microlight and a Buck Hartsook like a peanut butter an' jelly sandwich :D

I just received the 'larger' version last week...it's only about 1" bigger as far as I can tell. I cord wrapped it using that tutorial vid on the site and have used it quite a bit this week:thumbup:

The Micro Widgy looks appealing from a marketing perspective. Great item to have at the cash register. My question and I hope there is an answer to this: "What can this thing do that I can't do with almost any SAK?" Heck, I might even buy one, cause I like gadgets.

Not that I have one, but based on appearances it could - pull up nails and pry things much better than any SAK ever could.

I EDC a Worker and it is great for the small blade cutting, screwdriver and the all important bottle opener. But as a prybar - no way. Putting this thing together with your sak might just be the same, or more versatile, then the sharpened prybar knives.

Of course - you still need the 9-10" chopper for woodcraft!

It might make a good wedge for batoning? I obviously knew that you could probably pop up tacs and small nails with it, but I do that to a limited degree with a knife from time to time. But for more serious nails, better than a SAK.

I have one too! I thought I might make a ferro rod scraper from it. Maybe grind a half moon shape on one side. Dunno yet.

That is very cool, and at that price I could get a few for different kits. Thanks for the link.

Yup, bare nekkid steel :)

Actually, after watching the video, I couldn't resist and gave it a pair of pants. I gutted the paracord first, which I think works better for a smaller tool like this. The technique they show is easy to do and looks great.

Just use the teeth on the end. You should be able to weld with it ;)

Thanks Dale. It's fun to find things for widgets to do. I should be receiving a Benchmade rescue hook in the next few days. It may live in my truck FAK but I bought to cut the twines on hay bales esp while riding in the back of the truck while we are feeding off hay. Sometimes we stack 8 bales and have to cut each of 3 twines and feed off flakes. My GAK SAK works well for this but I always worry wielding that much sharp steel in the rain while the truck is bouncing across a pasture. The hook is a widget like the pry bar, maybe it will be used much or maybe little. Time will tell.

Oh, it's gadget appeal for sure! What's better than a little tool steel wrapped in paracord in your pocket? {{{{{{{shudder}}}}}}

Get abused or broken and not feel bad. And it's a prybar-- twice as thick as an SAK tool blade and it has a good curve to aid prying nails. I've worked as a field tech and I can think of 1000 times I used the wrong tool to pop something loose. This has excellent scraping qualitites too-- far better than anything on my SAK's.

We had a previous thread where several of us did the same thing with little Vaughan pry bars. This one is a little smaller and a classic keychain gadget.

Yea, I bought two last night. County Comm has become one of my favorite little websites. They also have those small lighters for sale at 1/4 the price of the bay. Very cool. Now I just need someone to mail me something in a crate so I can use my new 4 inch prybar to open it!

Cool! Mine's on the way; I got the 4" one. I also got the Ti Screw-link which I see you ordered as well. Glad to see you're happy with it. I can't wait to get mine.

I, uhh, ummm, leached that photo from County Comm {{wince}}. I wish I had ordered the Ti link. The hardest part in ordering from County Comm is getting enough stuff to justify the minimum shipping charge and I always miss something on my wish list when I order. Sigh.....

County Comm is one of those gadget sites you need to visit now and then to see what they have cooked up. The prybars were part of a gov't project and they do a lot of stuff for SAR and police and fire departments, so it's a natural for the readers here. The prices are usually so good that the shipping doesn't slow me down too much. My last order was four microlights and the prybar, leaving me at $16 for the batch with shipping-- chump change in the outdoor market I'm afraid :)

I originally discovered County Comm while looking for a small radio for hiking and emergency use. Their little GP4-L does AM/FM/SW, has a clock and an LED light to boot. A SW reciever is fun while hiking. I rig a long wire antenna and I can pick up the whole Pacific Rim at night.

When we used to make demos, I'd list myself as the producer but use the psuedonym Bjorn Nekkid. :D

That looks pretty cool... I got a little piece of scrap I could make one of those out of!

In the process of ordering a couple of these cuties (and other "stuff" ), I finally figured out how to get to my "shopping cart" when I want to: add anything to your cart and you are taken to your PayPal cart, where you can delete it if you wish. It had been driving me nuts that there was no "go to your cart" button.
