new Police CF blade problem

Greetings: I just received my new Spyderco Police (Left-Handed)with Carbon Fiber scales. When opening the knife, I can hear and see it rubbing against the metal lining. It is ok, when opening right-handed as there is no steel liner on that side and the slight lateral pressure is going in the opposite direction. Here is my question: If I send it back to Spyderco, will they be able to fix it? There is no real play in the blade. ( maybe a little ). Should I try tightening the pivot screw? For $120, I am not real happy about this blade rubbing. I can see little marks on the liner about an inch from the tip. Thanks a lot for any suggestions. Take care, Rob
p.s. I bought it from New Graham.

Thanks, Mercury Hayze. I wonder if they will replace it or fix it. It has a pretty low number on the blade ( just over 100 ). I think the carbon fiber ones are limited in their production. The blade is not messed up and the knife hase not been carried or used. I just put a wee bit of Hoppes oil on it. Hmmm...I will wait for a response from Sal or someone from Spyderco to see if they can advise. What is Spyderco's solution to something like this? Could they swap out the bushing for a thicker one or what? The action seems like it would be very smooth, if not for the rubbing. Thanks again, Rob

Rob,

I had a Police SS model which had the same problem. Like you I had a hard time spending that amount of cash and having the blade rub with a brand new knife. I sent it back to Spyderco and they sent me a new one with no questions asked. I feel that this happens on some of the Police knives due to the close tolerances between the blade, liner & scale. If you are not happy with it send it back and I am sure that Spyderco will make it right with you. This type of customer service is what keeps me a repeat Spyderco knife buyer!!!
