New Police model problem

I just received a new police model and overall like the knife very much but the blade rubs on the scales when I open and close the knife.
I called the repair shop at Spyderco and the man said to put the blade on it's side and slide it over a bench this should straighten up the blade which it didn't. I own quite afew knives and none of them seem to have this problem including my Military.I am wondering is this an inherent problem with the police model, do I have a defective one or am i being too picky? But I feel that a $90 knife made by a company with a solid reputation for quality products shouldn't have this problem. Any comments whould be greatly appreciated. I was looking to buy the Endura and Deluca models in SS but am a bit apprehensive now.

I don't have a Police, but I've been meaning to get one. I do have the SS Delica and Endura, neither one have the problem you speak of. I would just call again and tell them you want to send it back. They'll give you the address. This should be a free fix, if it hasn't been abused. You did buy it new right? Most people seem to think Spyderco has excellent customer service.

Yes I just pulled it from the box and it was in this condition. I feel that when it was assembled the blade was not centered properly between the scales!

I'd put it right back in the box and send it back for repair/replacement. Sounds like it slipped through the cracks, it happens I guess.

Positivly no question about it. You got a "bad" one
Slight hassle for you, but Spyderco will most certainly
take care it for you.

Option-1
If you bought it retail, take it back to the store and DEMAND a replacement. If the store even remotely gives you a hassle, then speak to the manager and that should solve the problem.

Option-2
Send it back to Spyderco, they will handle the problem.

**Remember, talking to the Customer Service Manager is ALWAYS the way to go. They know that turning off a good customer over a measly $90 will cost the company $1000's in the future. Not to mention the "word of mouth" damage, that all smart company's FEAR the most.
The last thing they want is for you to sit around with your buddys and bad mouth their products.

i remember with my Native i felt the blade rubbing against the handle as well and i was iffy about that. what i did was i just kept lubing it and breaking it in and eventually, i'm guessing, the rivet became looser? i'm not too sure what happened but most important thing to me was that my Native had a smoother open/close motion. maybe yours is 10 times worse or 20 times worse, but just thought i'd let you know that someone else felt your pain... temporarily :D
