New Policies/Procedures at Airports ?

Given the cureent events, I'm inclined to think that obviously
policies will change regarding specifically KNIVES during domestic flights. Regulations will certainly be revised. Possibly ALL knives
incl. Box Cutters, Razor Blades, etc. et al, might possibly be eliminated from carry on items previously allowed.

W/ this will come all the usual angles to circumvent these regulations w/ Ceramics, Ti, Stellite, Carbon Fiber and it's Hybrids, Mutations etc. et al.

The NEED for edged weapon combatives should increase along w/ people's awareness.

I espoused for as long as I can remember that Edged Weapons are
going to be a Primary Weapoon when GUNS are either eliminated or regulated. Obviously that time is apparantly here now as evidenced
by the events that recently transpired.


What are the other Suspects and Forum members thoughts on this ?

My understanding is that El Al has covert operatives on all of its flights just for situations like this. Highly trained individuals. In my opinion we will have to move in that direction.
 
Scotland Yard in the UK have anounced a complete ban on knives as a carry on item in UK airspace. This means all domestic and international flights. The ban covers Swiss Army knives, penknives and multi-tools in addition to the usual stuff.

I would not be supprised to see similar rules accross Europe and the USA in the comming days.

I would love to see the airlines start up a covert CT team - guys that cross train with Delta, SEAL DevGrp, FBI HRT, GSG-9, etc. Like El Al, have them go on every flight - who knows? Maybe they double as flight attendants, maybe just passengers. When something like this happens, they quell it. Or, arm the damn pilots! I'll bet if the pilots had guns, these guys wouldn't have taken over the planes. Use sub-sonic frangible rounds so the integrity of the plane isn't compromised, and passengers aren't at risk.
 
We can still carry our FRN blades.
 
One of the commentators mentioned what jackstraw is referring to--the "cowboy" on all El Al flights. Israel proceeds as though someone is always after them. Assume the aircraft may be hijacked and proceed accordingly. Highly trained, and armed individuals is the key. We terminated the air marshall program approximately a decade ago, maybe it's time to take a page from the Israeli's book. Never again.
It appears that passengers on the Pittsburgh flight realized what was happening and tried to stop the terrorists, which is why it missed it's target. Not to minimize the courage of those brave civilians, but substitute two or four SEALS (for example) for those civilians, and speculate on the out come.
 
I've always assumed it stood for phenolic resin, as in Micarta, zytel, etc., the ph being changed to an F ResiN.
 
As Tamishigiri has pointed out in the past, Density Detectors are coming.

Unarmed combat and Improvised weapons should be on every persons minds when you are in supposed "Secured Areas".

God Bless anyone that had the presence of mind and testicals to fight back.

I just sent a rather long e-mail to my ex, (we split up 6months ago.)
telling her the same thing,I always carried a knife with me on every flight, and if I would have been on one of these I certainly would have tried something,
knowing in the back of my mind I was probably going to die anyway
It's sad knowing that once again law abiding citizens will feel the brunt of any laws trhat are passed :mad:

I think it is time to be more highly skilled in Hand to Hand Combat and Flexible Weapons personally.

Any ceramic, G10 or other type of knife, if you are caught with it now, you are going to be paying a very dear penalty. This is serious, we may have up to 50,000 dead, no one knows yet.

I think it prudent to begin to learn what alot of people have ridiculed for a long, long time and that is how to use a jacket or a belt to blow knives out of people's hands and then break their goddamned neck with it.

I think the Number One "Traveler's Device" just became the highest quality Rigger's Belt that you can find, as of 9-11-01.
