I received this today from a reputable seller off of the bay.
I have a couple of concerns with this tool.
First, when closed the knife side handles are not flush with each other. It appears that one ides may have more tools making it thicker. Is this normal?
Second, I can not close it. The picture shows how the knife stops. I can not get it to close even with force. however, if I open it something kind of pops causing the pliers to close and then I can properly get the tool to fold up.

The handle thickness is normal, in fact most of the Juice range is the same. Odd perhaps, but intentional. On the other hand the closing issue sounds more of a problem.

...

Yes.

It sounds like you may be jamming the pliers into the other tools (inside the handles)... especially since the pliers are open. Close the pliers first. Then fold the handles-- one handle at a time.

Well it appears that the pliers are just SUPER stiff. I can get it to close a little better by working the pliers a little.
The scissors spring I noticed isn't.......well springy making the scissors less operable.

I can't replicate the problem closing the pliers on mine. They close easily. I have had a few Leatherman multi-tools that were stiff to open at first... but not one from the Juice line. If working the pliers helps, maybe oiling them would help some more. The scissors on all of mine work OK but they aren't (and never were) super springy. If you can't exchange it, you could send it back to Leatherman:

Thank you.

The handles are not flush on mine, never considered it a problem.
I have no difficulty closing the Juice whether the pliers are closed or open.
You might have a problem there or it could be simply a matter of break in.

I just got a an s2 a few days ago, in storm grey (actually looks purple to me??) off of Amazon. I have the same issue. I opened all the tools and it closed fine. I closed each one by one. It will close smooth if the (Extra-small Screwdriver
and the Small Screwdriver) are open. If there closed the pliers will get caught on them and bind. I have to squeeze it pretty hard to get it to close and then it pops really hard as the tip of the pliers pops past the two small screwdrivers. I could grind the pliers or the screwdrivers down??? I think a better bet is to put it back in the box and ship the POS back! For $40 bucks I got a tool that I'll have to make sure I pre-close the pliers to make it work. Ummm NOT! $40 is a lot of money for a defective item. You would think this stuff would be pre checked before it was packaged at what they cost.

This is the correct answer to the closing problem. The plier will fit more easily into one side than the other, so make sure it goes in the "easy" side first and you should have no closing issue. When it hits the screw drivers or other tools, it binds. You will see scrape marks on the plier where it hits. This is a design issue IMO.

If this is a design issue, has it been corrected that you know of? Maybe the one I got off of Amazon is an older one? Since some or all?? of these are defective they should be sold that way. Maybe (were stupid and and to money hungry to check our product sale) to get rid of all the bad ones for .99 Then I would be willing to grind the screwdrivers down or break them off for that. Kinda like buying a new car and being told you have to wiggle the handle a few times to get it to unlock... or hope you pacemaker fires like its suppose to. Leatherman is a big company that makes great products, they shouldn't have let this go. It would have only took 5 seconds to check each one for this problem. That means they knew and didn't care. Luckily when you buy off Amazon you can print out a free return label and ship it back.

I have 3 Juice S2s. The 2 halves of the blade are not supposed to be in line with each other. As far as it being very stiff, my guess is that it is either not broken in yet, or the tolerances are off in the pivot section. If it doesn't ever wear in for you, send it to leatherman. Their customer service is excellent! I sent in my leatherman charge to them for a bent file and they fixed it no questions asked.

Hmm... I was actually considering trading my Juice XE6 for a Juice S2 just so that I would have less weight seeing as though I really don't ever use the extra tools it has that the S2 doesn't but from the sounds of it maybe I am better off keeping it. The handles are almost flush when closed (one side is only very slightly thicker than the other) and it snaps open and closed like a charm.
