A while back we had a thread on possibles bags and I posted this:

Swiss mil-surp bag. Inside pockets and drawstring pouch, adjustable strap, loop on back to thread through your belt so it doesn't swing during rough going.

This was from an online surplus seller, but he was out of stock. That is how it is on the surplus market. I've been looking occasionally for a replacement for the one I have. I bought it when my son was five, and he is twenty-six now, so it is a bit worn and bedraggled. I've patched and fixed on it over the years, but it is pretty well worn out. I'll give the old one to my youngest son, now fifteen. I finally found this one and bought it. It hasn't arrived yet, but I like the price.

Nice, I have an old european gas mask bag, just the right size, smaller than day pack, but large enough to carry the needed items.

Good find!

Wow, that is a cool bag, I found this British Respirator bag recently at an Earthbound Trading Company/Romancing The Stone store. (same chain, same merchandise just different names)

$7.98

I like those outside pockets!

I do a lot of stream wade fishing for smallmouth bass, and I tighten the strap so the bag hangs just about even with my armpit.

When hunting, I lengthen it to hang in the middle of my belt, and switch it from side to side as needed. In rough going, I slide it around to the back and loop that back strap thru my belt.

I carry a nylon mesh bag rolled up inside when squirrel hunting or digging roots, picking persimmons. I can loop the drawstring top of the partially filled mesh bag thru my belt to carry it.

A Coghlins (sp) pint flask fits in the rear compartment. The inner pockets keep calls, license, snacks, etc. neatly out of the way. The main compartment is quite roomy and will hold several Plano lure and fly boxes, a spare reel and stringer. I keep a cheap ball compass pinned to the top flap for orientation at a glance.

After some use, the bag lost some "body", and I put a shaped pieve of military foam sleeping pad in the bottom to help stiffen it.

The two buttons on the front allow me to adjust the bag for smaller or larger loads. I like that the top cover flap comes down over the top of the bag all around to keep water and forrest litter out. I spray it with scotchgard for waterproofing.

When I need something more waterproof, and slightly larger capacity, I have a couple of USGI butt packs with rubberized liners. Since I don't like wearing web gear, I attaches a swivel snap GI accessory sling to it, so I can carry it by the sewn on top handle, or with the shoulder strap.

Did the bag ever arrive? I'm curious because clicking on the link that you give above results in the following message from ebay:

Well crap, so much for that idea. The salesgirl at Earthbound Trading Company told me when I bought mine that this surplus stuff was basically a test to see how it would sell. They had British, Russian and French hats, map cases and such.

She did say it was selling very well, the local college kids were all over these bags, at $7.98 they are cheap and tough as nails. I added metal grommets to mine and it was a real pain to poke holes in the material.

Interesting. Mil Surp is banned in Cali? Well, it is an ended aution (Jan-12-07)and payment was just sent. I paid $0.99 plus $2.45 shipping. It is coming from California to Tennessee. Evidently it will be carried here by the Shetland ponies.

The Swiss bags are great- only one on Ebay now is 18.00 delivered! I will check at this weekends gunshow for cheap surplus and report back if I score some.

No joy at the show...
