Looks like I found the place with all the answers. I'm sure it's been asked before but I'm looking for help with cutting nail nicks in 440c (prior to heat treat) in small folder blades. Don't really like straight cuts and don't have a mill. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Dremel tool, just pick the abrasive wheel that gives you what you want.

Don,
To add to what Mete said, stack 2-4 of the 1" cutoff wheels on the mandrel and cut in at an angle. Makes for a pretty neat nail nick if you are careful and practice a little.

thanks guys, I used a 1/16" woodruff key cutter but had trouble getting a nail into the slot. Tried a 45 degree 1 7/8" dovetail cutter but couldn't control the cut well enough and ended up causing more work than it was worth. Maybe less is better and I'll definately try the dremel.
