The Spyderco Manix2 Sprint is now available. For more info, check out the Manix2 Sprint Product Page.

We will be shipping the Manix2 Sprint Run over the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, there has been a mix-up on the blade steel and Spyderco made the decision to continue with the Sprint Run and produce the knife using Carpenter's CTS-BD30P Blade Steel instead of Carpenter's CTS-B75P steel originally planned.

We are still working with Carpenter to produce something with their CTS-B75P steel and we will keep you informed once we finalize more details.

So this is Carpenter's version of S30V? Is it finer grained/2nd generation powdered metal? Any benefits over S30V?

So BD30P is Carpenter's version of S30V? And is CTS-B75P Carpenter's powder version of BG-42?
thanks

Just when my wallet was recovering from the M390 Mules and the 20CP Para2 :(

Why not a Military with the BG-42 equivalent? Maybe use some blue G10? Come on! :D

I would love:
Military with ZDP and orange scales, plain edge or
Military with H1 and yellow scales, fully serrated.

I'm not finding any datasheets for this steel on the CTS website...did anyone else find it?

I got high hopes for this steel. I remember when they were saying xhp was a stainless d2 yet it outpreformed any production d2 . So let's see if cts can do it again . I'm in !!!

What's the point of all this additional crap?

The Cobalt could improve edge retention some and improve toughness, the nickel and Tungsten in the small amounts add to grain refinement.

Should be a nice steel I think. :)

I think I'm going to pass on this one. I have been buying every variant to keep the Manix wheel updated, but this one doesn't seem sufficiently different that what I already own. Black G-10 and what is essentially FFG S30V are both things I already have, albeit not in the same knife. I wish they had used a different color G-10 to distinguish it somehow.

I like the addition of Tungsten...not too much added in, but I wonder how having some W carbides in with the V ones might enhance it. The Cobalt should enhance it a bit too. Sounds like a good steel.

For reference to other folks, steels like CPM-M4 and Super Blue have a lot of Tungsten (W) and they end up with very aggressive, tough carbide structures.
