NEW PRODUCT: Spyderco YoJimbo2

Thanks, Dan. Not sure I didn't like the original better? But I'm willing to bet that Mike knows more about what works than I do, so I'll give it a try! :D

Anybody know how wide this is? Looks like it is around 1.75 or so inches. I think the Junior is nearly the same width if not more.

Thanks for the heads up man, I was really considering one of these and now I think you put me over the edge. I better order one and get it over with already!!:)

The new Yojimbo is great! I love it! Razor sharp! In my opinion so much better then the first one. I contacted Bento Box shop and I got it in 2 days! I paid $134 shipped because I did not want to wait. You can find it for $106 plus shipping at knife center if you don't mind waiting.

It's in STOCK NOW out there, just ordered one 5 minutes ago from one of the "usual suspects" (it's an outfit in Louisiana...Hint hint...)...

See!!! Patience is a virtue! I wanted mine last week and don't know how to wait..hahaha

Cool! Ugly & utility, all in one. I'm getting one of these. That blade shape is awesome. I could easily see this one replacing my Endura as an EDC.

*$%&#! I promised myself that I wasn't going to buy any knives for awhile after I pre-ordered the two m390 millies, but sure enough I just placed an order for a Yojimbo AND and para 2. Spyderco is like some messed up woman who works her strange voodoo over men. Can't wait!

Here are a few photos that might help with size comparison:

Awesome pics, 2edgesword! Thanks!

I can't believe the extent of changes between the original Yo and the Yo2. It's quite a different knife. From a purely visual standpoint, I have to say all of the changes are positive, at least to my tastes.

My Yo2 is still in transit. I'll next be home tomorrow, but expect it will be waiting for me.

I agree that the changes that have been made are an improvements over the original Yojimbo.

The handle is more robust, more ergonomic and while the length has been shortened, which reduces the overall size when the knife is closed, the decrease in length doesn't take away from the ability to use the knife in the closed position as a striking weapon.

The blade is thicker making the tip less fragile (one of the complaints regarding the Yo1) and the curvature of the spine makes for a more comfortable, natural resting place for the thumb when the knife is held in Filipino grip. I'm not a fan of jimping so I don't miss it on the Yo2.

The lock-up is very positive and I don't see any chance that regardless of how you grip the knife you could accidently disengage the lock. When the lock is disengaging the blade will move slight and encounter a detent requiring some force to be applied to fully close the knife. This might somewhat help in preventing the knife blade from "falling" out of the locked position and via inertia swinging free, hitting your hand.

The fit and finish is excellent as expected from Spyderco. It's been a long time coming (I had the opportunity to handle one of the prototypes back in 2009) but the Yo2 is now my EDC replacing the Delica I've carried for the last 5+ years.

So...I am expecting my 1st Yojimbo (the one I quickly snatched from Knifeworks yesterday when it was in stock briefly...) and now I got an email from GP Knives stating that my preorder's (I forget when I placed it, I think it was July?) status has changed to "processing".
It looks like my next week is gonna be full of ... Yojimbos!!! Eheheh...I am absolutely stoked!
