Thanks Jim .. My name is Don , new to the forum , as an enthusiast I do custom blade design on the side , not really for sale so much as just for my personal museum if you will .. I will update the album as progress is made over the next few months ...

Don,

You have a very nice piece in the making. I will be looking forward to seeing more photos and especially the finished product.

Tell us a little more about yourself. Your profile states "Georgia". Is that the Georgia next door to Alabama, or is it a completely different Georgia?

What steel are you using for this? Come on man....... share some info with us.

Can't wait to see this one finished.

Robert

Hi Don,

The drawing is astounding, and the blade is certainly up to the standards. Nicely designed.

How much handwork is yours, and/or are you working with a familiar smith? No slight either way. You have great vision.

Thanks. This is going to be a fine Work In Progress (WIP). :)

Yes its coming out very well .. Also I can not take the credit for the actual
fabrication , I use a bladesmith that I found through many interviews and contacts that has the talent as well as the same tastes to build the type of pieces I want as well as protecting my / his designs .. I have around 10 designs in house that have to go through him first for functionality and minor design changes as he has free reign to suggest / make changes to my pieces .. On this piece we will first finish the piece and the sheath and then we are thinking about a custom display case to match ... Because of the amount of time involved to make these we can only do probably a max of two per year ... I probably will want to get this piece professionally photo'd after its finished ...

Robert , also to answer your question , its 1080 steel I believe and yes I am in the USA happily ... I will post more pics as the piece comes along ...

Thanks. You are working in quality. Keep this thread alive.

Mighty nice looking work. Skill set is certainly high in your blacksmith.

Wow, this is going to surpass all other "LOTR" swords I have ever seen! This is truly going to be something with substance! Power to ya.

Thank you all for the kind words on the piece .. I deal mostly in what I would call functional fantasy type blades .. There is alot to do to this piece yet , its only about 25% done , alot of carving , etc .. still to be done .. I will post more pics as the project proceeds ...
