My son bred his oldest male dog Max with his friends bitch. She only had two females that lived, they had to do a C-section on her because the only male puppy died in the birthing channel:(. The Vet said that the puppies are as big as Rottwieler puppies. He has to pick one for himself. What a tough choice they are both gorgeous. They are 4 days old in this pic.
 
Your boy would be tickled pink to have you out there making knives and hunting birds with him :-)

One thing that is high on my priority list when I get out there, is to go hunting with my Springfield 45-70 trapdoor and bag a deer or a elk.:thumbup::cool:
