I found out from my wife that my middle daughter and my two grandaughters found a puppy they really liked, and were visiting it every couple of days at the shelter. I know they really can`t afford to get it, so I got it for them. I guess you all know now who grandpa of the year is! Never got so many hugs in my life! It looks to be a full blood daschund, the vet agrees. They named it Sophie.

Awesome! I'm sure you will be getting those hugs for a long time to come! I'm not much of a small dog person, but I really like Daschunds!

A special place for people that rescue dogs. Good on ya John, thats a great thing to do, in more ways then one. :)

Awww!

I have such a soft spot in my heart for dogs. That little puppy looks adorable. It's a cliché to say this, but that's definitely a gift that will keep on giving. Nice work, John!

All the best,

i rescued a 5 year old bullmastiff 2 years ago. its probably the best feeling in the world. I dont think i would get a dog anywhere else but the shelter. so many good dogs out there.

oh and good job stomper. Getting a dog at your grandaughters age is a great way to learn responsibility as well.

Do the kids know to be careful of the pups back? Just asking because as you probably know they are fragile. Darla, my doxie, really has back problems from a couple of ill advised jumps.
That said, WHAT A CUTE PUPPY! Those kids look thrilled.
Great job.

Great job.

They know because they were told with Casey. They have instructions to not pick her up at all.

I figured but I thought I would say it in case. When Darla's back hurts it absolutely breaks my heart.
Great looking grandkids, great looking pup!
