Hello all, this is my first post in a long time, so just a little update on my collection.

I posted about suggestions on any all black knives, but didnt get any responses, so I figured I might be getting a little too "mall ninja" about my knives, so I decided to take a fresh approach.

I was looking to get a real solid folder, not a cheapo from the corner store, I wanted to make an actual investment. I was looking to get something at either 3 inches or maybe even a little over, and I was looking for an assisted open.

I had narrowed my choices down to a few of Kershaw's knives, they seemed to have great quality and reputation for a great price, and a work buddy of mine said he had a few Kershaws and that he was a fan of theirs.

A friend of mine and I went on vacation to Orlando, and he said he knew of a pretty large Army Navy store there, and then I actually found the store on the Kershaw website as an authorized dealer. We were there the other day and I came across this

Its a Kershaw Scallion, and its the Hi Point firearms version. At first I was a little put off by its blade length, only 2.25 inches. However, after I fiddled around with it in the store and held it in my hand a bit I was in love with it. Despite being a smaller knife it just feels more solid than any knife I've ever held. The assisted opening mechanism on this knife is incredibly easy to use and incredibly fast. After carrying it on me for the last day or so I've actually grown fond of the smaller size, i've got more room in my pockets, its less bulky, and so on. I'm also a fan of the red/black coloration, so it really worked out.

If anyone has been looking for a blade around that size, I defanitley reccomend this one, you won't be sorry about the purchase at all.

As a side note. . .

My friend picked up a CRKT fulcrum which is an incredibly cool knife. It's a folder, but it uses the fulcrum folding system that their website was designed by Charles Kain. I had never seen anything like it, and its something every collector should look into. I'm set on my collection for a while, but I'll probably be looking into getting one soon as well. Heres a link to the site: http://www.crkt.com/fulcrum.html

The Scallion makes a nice addition to my TDI, which I've really been enjoying as well, the itch had gone away for a bit, but I feel it creeping back, haha. Let me know what you guys think.

Scallions are incredibly underrated, especially as an EDC utilitarian knife.

What's the model number on yours?

Nice pick-up on the Scallion. Cobb

riff,
I think it's a 1620BR or 1620BRHP (only if Kershaw did the handle stamp)
What, you don't have any riff? :D

2bros is right, its the 1620BR.

And while I dont know everything there is to know about knives just yet riff, I can tell this knife is underrated. I haven't seen much chatter about it in the forums, maybe I can be the champion for the Scallion's cause, lol.

I know mine came incredibly sharp, but use the little safety latch on the bottom of the handle. Mine broke (the safety) and it came open in my pocket and dealt me a very nasty laceration which probably should have been sutured, although I didn't get it done. A one inch cut is NOT what I was reaching into my pocket for!!!

Doc

Yea, ive been reading about the issues with these knives opening up on some people. And I noticed that the safety does seem a little flimsy. Probably my only issue i see with the knife.
