Here area few pics of the pouch sheath I made for my R6. It is a belt/dangler combo. Nothing fancy and I decided to leave it natural colored and see how it ages. I do like how it rides up higher and doesn't poke seats.

that sheath looks like it belongs with that knife, how secure is it on your leg? its hard to see how it attaches

Very nice. A pouch-like sheath seems to be the best way to carry an R-6. And the Norse dangler style actually has a lot of advantages to it over a fixed belt style.

With sheaths of that style, a cord or thong is run through the metal dangler loop and that cord or thong attaches to the belt.

I am waiting for snaps to arrive in the mail so I have only used it as a belt knife so far. As a belt knife it rides very nice, up high and out of the way. As a dangler, I will probably put an eyelet at the bottom for a tiedown. It is still a work in progress.

That's great work Bill. The sheath's got a good look to it and appears to be an excellent match for your R6.

Just an FYI. Anyone interested in making your own leather sheaths should look up Paul Long and order his DVD's. They are worth every penny. As a falconer, I have been making my own leather equipment for over 20 years so I am very familure with leathercraft. However, making sheaths is a different animal altogether! For me the DVD's mostly taught me how to develop a pattern from any knife. Of course Paul's work is top notch and this sheath probably should not be mentioned along side his name but, you get the drift!

Anyone wanting his DVD can search the username "sheathmaker" to contact Mr. Long to place an order.
(as Mr. Long only has a platinum membership, direct links to his wares is not advisable)

I hope I don't get in trouble for linking that! If so, I'm sure Karda will boot me where ever this should have been posted.:D

Great sheath and very pretty knife. I still have one R-6 and it came with a kind of dangler sheath, but this looks more secure and covers a bit more as well. Nice job!

I appreciate the link as well. I don't think I have the right tools for working leather, but will check it out as there are several projects I'd like to be able to do on my own.
