New RAM Clip?

A couple of friends and I bought 3 Black blade Kershaw RAMs (1910CKT). We were removing the pocket clips so that we could put some of firebert's awesome scales on, but we couldn't remove one of my pocket clip screws and it stripped out.

I knew it was no biggie, I used the form on Kershaw's website and they sent out a clip & screw set, no problem.

The package came from Kershaw today and it had a black clip instead of the silver ones that came with the knives! I've always wished it had a black clip and my buddies are going to be super jealous. The knife should have come with a black clips from the start, EVERYTHING else on the knife is black, and apparently Kershaw agrees because that's what they sent me.

Now I don't want to abuse the warranty system, but I guarantee you my friends are going to want some black clips. So did the knife used to come with a silver clip and now they've changed to black, or was this black clip sent to be by mistake, what's the deal?
 
I just modified mine using hwpaintballer's "Bic Lighter Method":thumbup:.

Coming soon i'll have an aftermarket 'grip clip' that fits on the Ram. . .and should fit on any kershaw knife using the same stock clip as the Ram.
When i had some available I was planning on posting here on the Kershaw forums. . . looks like i'll have to do it in the General forums, so stay tuned for that ;)

Yours turned out darker than my propane torch attempt, too. Are you guys getting the clip red-hot?

Not Red Hot, but after heating I dipped it in water. I noticed it made it darker for some reason after dipping it :confused:

I wonder if there is a difference in the use of propane and butane???

the clip will carry the same as the original that came with the ram. . .but it will work much better! I have one in my pocket now. . i've been completely spoiled by it. . .can't imagine using a knife without one. I'll make sure to let you know when i have some available. . .give me your email so when i have them i can let you know. And anyone else that's interested send me an email . . .

hi Gavin, i don't mean to hijack the thread, but i have a question for you? how close is the zt 0650st to the custom auto? also what is the after market made of? :)

The first couple of runs are going to be out of 410, just because it's easier to bend. It's the same material that kershaw is using on their clips. I'm sure everyone is going to want titanium, so that will probably come in the future. . .first i have to make sure people care enough to spend the extra money on a pocket clip.

Our auto is a lot like the ZT auto on the inside. . .the only difference being that we used a bushing and larger threaded insert.

Just so you know if you ever have a question for me just ask. . .no need to hijack someones thread! . . .lol . . . i usually feel like i hijack threads. . .

Gavin's made some custom clips for RAMs and ZTs that look pretty good, too.
