Sorry to through a wet blanket on this companionship, but someone must be responsible for the advertising of this new product.
I've been on the Russell waiting list for this new all steel "Sting" for 3 months. Read all the advertisements and reviews. Finally a quality knife that could be used with a horizontal carrying sheath. I even purchased a bottle of "Inox" to protect the non coated edges.
The prize arrived today. It was like Christmas, receiving a wanted preasent, only to find out the advertising was better than the product, very disappointing.
The leg straps appeared to be thick nylon webbing but the stitching was already unraveling, this is a new sheath never worn. They also were very short, probably measured to a Taiwan factory workers leg. The sheaths insert held the knife in place very well. The verticle belt loop, great, no problems, but the horizontal hold feature of the sheath is not there. Maybe if you were wearing a rope belt or a ribbon for a belt, or the included leg straps.
No way could could that sheath be held sideways on a real belt wider than 1 inch. I called Russell, where I purchased the rig, asked them how to use it horizonally, "there is no way to hang it sideways", also the pictures in all of the advertisements is wrong, that is not the sheath that comes with the knife.
The lady at Russell also told me that CRKT is designing a new sheath for that knife.
I then called CRKT, asked them if a new sheath is being designed for that knife, they said NO. But you could wear the sheath in the horizonal hold, if you wore a "Golf belt".
So I sent the knife back this afternoon, I'll never buy another "Brand Name" knife sight unseen again.

I'm confused, are you talking about Randall Made knives or Columbia river knife and tool,I'm sure their is no collaboration between the two ?

Look, folks, the CRKT sting is an A. G. Russell Project, and has nothing to do with Randall.

SORRY FOR THE TYPO ALL OF YOU AFICIONADOS.
THE PIECE OF CRAP SHEATH CAME FROM RUSSELL/CRKT, not RANDALL
BUT YOU ALL KNEW THAT, DID'NT YOU.

Actually, this isn't a bad sheath. However, it's an arm sheath, so that's why the straps seem short. If you remove the velcro strap intended for belt wear, it fits snugly on top of your forearm. It's good to wear a coat when you've got it on this way. BTW, this has nothing to do with Randalls.

The typo is no problem, you just put it in the wrong forum. I am sure one of our super moderators will fix it.
