Howdy all ... This is my first post here in the RAT section, I'm usually in the W&SS section :D I don't have any of the Rat Cutlery - RATs yet, I got an IZULA on the way. I did own some of the older Ontario models ( TAK, RAT3, RAT7CE) But have since sold them. I also got a Ontario RAT7PE:o I know there is alot of Bad Blood between RC & Ontario & I didn't come here to start a Flame. Yes I'm going to get either an RC-6 or 5 just not sure which I really need/want at this time. I started a thread in W&SS about the rat5 but it didn't go far so I thought I'de come to the experts:D Help me decide.
Show me your RC6 & RC5's in action ! My eye is drawn to the RC5 just because it's a Brute...but at hte same time they say it's Heavy & not much fun to pack.
Thanks,
Thomas

welcome to rat, i dont own any either, but ive got an rc 5 coming my way, im probably going to go packing with it dispite its weight!!

I'll post some of the RC6 in a bit

What are you going to be using it for?

This knife will be one that I will take Camping/Hiking. I have a few really good knives already...I hear nothing but great things about these RC knives so I thought I'de give'em a try :) I always liked the Older RAT's (ontario models) & they tell me these new Rc knives are alot better so...I gotta get one or two :D

If you're looking for a pure beast, get the RC5, damn the weight. For something with a little more versatility, go for the 6.

Welcome bro, I love my RC5 but I prefer my RC6 and the RC6 is my main go to RC blade....

If you like the looks of the RC-5, don't care about the weight & you want a knife that will survive a nuclear explosion... go with that one.

But for all practical purposes, the RC-6 is the better hiking/camping/outdoor knife IMHO.

I have both but have only used the RC-5 so far. It's a sharpened prybar. It's a true beast. With that being said, I think the RC-6 would be a better way to go because of the versatility of it.

Hey Coaldigger - you'll get the same answer from me - go with the 6!

Welcome to the RAT forum coaldigger....... I have the Rc-5, and it does everythig I need.

Welcome, coaldigger! You'll enjoy the Izula - I've only had mine a couple of days and haven't had the chance to do much with it, but it's a sweet little one. :)

And here's a shot of my RC-5 from a backpacking trip earlier this summer (not a whole lot of action going on though, I'm afraid :p):

Welcome CoalDigger...I'm new here as well. I only own one RAT and that's the HEST, but i like it a lot. I am waiting for the non-serialized version to be released. Next I want a RC-4,5 or 6 but like you, I can't decide either. :) I'm leaning towards the RC-4 or 5 cause I have several 6" blades already.
