  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

I've been using my Buck Jiffy Sharp in that capacity for quite a while. I don't press the blade in to the carbide bits. Just let it glide along and align the edge. But if I think I'm getting a wire edge, then I push a little harder and that removes the wire edge. (Of course that means more checking and sharpening and monkey arms to make sure that having removed the wire edge, the result is as sharp as could possibly be.)

Their stuff looks big and cumbersome. I think I'll stick to my Buck Jiffy Sharp for a bit longer.

If you get the Razor's Edge book or their gear, you'll know that the folks at Razor's Edge are obsessed with holding the same angle, taking the variation out that comes with hand sharpening. Their clamps work great for that. And, their steels are all designed so that you keep the same angle while steeling. Also, they stress light pressure!! It looks like their mousetrap steel takes care of the pressure problem as well as the andle problem! The mousetrap system may look cumbersome, bud jusging from my experience with their gear, I bet that it works fantastically.
