I just got a new Reese Bose Rodgers Whittler. I recently changed the direction of my knife collection from custom tacticals to whittler pattern knives and boy was I lucky to start with this! The Reese Bose Whittler is flawless in its execution and fit and finish are beyond reproach.

I checked out the knife with a 10X magnifying which is usually not a good thing to do but with this knife its great fit and finish were only made more clear.

I am on the fence about carrying the knife and wondering how many of you carry your custom Bose knives and if you use a case, pouch, etc. Basically if you carry your Bose how do you carry it?

I have 2 R. Bose trappers and I carry them in a leather pouch that I made for them. It protects them just fine and eases my mind when carrying them.

Welcome to B.F.

What a great whittler to start with. The decision to carry is totally up to you and I understand the choice between using such a fine knife and keeping it pristine. Sometimes you just have to carry and use it no matter what.

When I do carry a nice custom it is usually in a leather slip. I carry a Carson lockback in the leather slip Chris Reeve makes for his small Sebenza and other slipjoints in thin leather pouches with flaps or these from Ron Ryder.

I find that the pouches protect the knife well. The ones I have carried for a while still look pretty good and it has been a pleasure using the knives.

Front pocket, leather pouch.
These knives can take it, no reason not to use them.
All the same, you don't want them banging against your keys, etc.

Do you own it or does it own you ?
To my eye there is no finer looking pocketknife than one with all the chevrons of duty upon it's form.

By all means, show that nice folder!!
While I don't have one like that, I've owned other customs and as said
above, do you own it, or does it own you, you only live once as they say
and carrying a great knife and being able to use it only increases those
days we have!
It's all on how you view the knife, it sounds like you selected it to be used
so I'd say, do so and not worry too much with the loupe, the first scratch
is always the toughest to weather!

To add to Gus's post, you can also try this guy out, Arne Mason
he's a bit high but he also comes highly regarded in the world of soft pouches.

Guy's, thanks for the kind words and Gary thanks for that excellent link for the leather pouches. It's been a crazy week but I'll get a pic up soon. However, my photographic skills and equipment are rather limited.

Man I tell you, the more I look at this knife the more I want more Bose's. I really, really want one of those Millenium Trappers now.

Gary, also enjoyed the link to Psalm 1. Thanks.

Well, I should mention that I recently saw a VERY nice custom leather
belt sheath for a Bose knife that made a great impression--the
maker was Gary Graley.....:)

Shaldag, appreciate the mention, he is looking for a soft leather pouch
the type of which I can't sew by hand, but thanks, nice of you to say!

And Chris, glad you liked checking that verse out, interesting and challenging!

Hi Chris, and congratulations. I've only got one Bose but it is really a treat to check out. I'm constantly torn about what to carry. I've carried customs for about 15 years but when it comes time to add another to the pocket it's a tough decision.

Good luck with your dilema.

Win, how have you been? This is Chris W from another forum. I'm changing my direction from tacticals to traditional but I will not be letting go of that great MV-3. That one is a keeper!

Good to talk ....err..correspond with you again. Hope you are well in that beautiful area of the country you live in.

Chris
