Just picked this knife up on the bay. I've wanted one for a while and finally got it. I'm curious, does anyone know who is making these knives for Remington? The listing did say USA, so I went ahead and bought it. As soon as I get it in I'll post a few better pics. Thanks for any info you guys can provide.

I liked that too. I also like the pin punch. Should do anything you need to with the old scatter gun!

That one looks like an early 90's Remington made by Camillus. I have one also with the same shields as yours.
Did it come with a box?

STDK is correct, it's a Camillus from before Remington moved to Madison in 1996 and the name "Madison" was added to the tang stamp.

Thanks for the info guys. I don't think it has a box, but I was ok with that since its going straight in my pocket!! Very glad to hear that it is a pre 96 Camillus. That isn't that old, but I was a bit concerned that it may be a much newer knife. Now for the most important info, what type of steel? Also, where can I get info on tang stamp/date info for Remington knives? Checked all about pocket knives, but they don't have any info on the newer stuff just the old.

Nice, but what about the 16ga;)

The sweet 16. Not sure where it is, maybe Browning will come out with a knife that includes the 16 ga tool!! I actually liked the fact that the sheep's foot blade wasn't serrated like most of these. Can't wait to get it in my hot little hands. More pics to come.

Flyfisherman,
Sorry, I don't have any info on Remington tang stamps. The one I have has definately seen its share of pocket time. They are very nicely made knives. My only problem is it doesnt fit a Mossberg choke.
Here is some info from The Gun Digest Book of Knives 3rd edition on these knives.
440 Stainless, first made 1988, delrin handles, nickel silver bolsters, stainless steel pins.
Maybe a Camillus guy can confirm what 440 was used.

Likely 440B. Later models would have used 440A.

Only the first year used the animal shields.
They were replaced with standard Remington shields after that.
