Hey guys, Eightleggedfreak here. I'm going to begin a new knife testing and review campaign and post up lots of info here for you guys first, as well as link to some videos so you can see what I am up to.
To give you a little background on me, I am a former private operator and current Corporate Investigator with LEO experience and lots of time in the hills. I am a little more um....tactically minded than most but, I have a love for all blades and blade applications. I am currently working through an as of yet undiagnosed neurological disorder and I think that this down time will be a great opportunity to keep busy getting you guys accurate and honest looks and a variety of tools.
In order to make this a value added experience I need your input on a couple of things.

1. What tests do you want to see blades subjected to? I have looked on YouTube and it looks like there are basically two kinds of vids, the kind where people unbox and drool over a blade for 42 minutes while getting even basic facts wrong(you know whos doing these types), and the kind where people are showing off or otherwise doing "tests" that really don't test the blade at all or at least they aren't giving us a very accurate view of a blades performance in the situations you're likely to encounter(spine whacking anybody?)

2. Now there are some good videos up and for those who do well, I appreciate it. My goal is to add to the experience by selecting blades people have specifically asked for a review on(what good is a SOG elite review if you own a benchmade right)? So I would like to keep this thread open for requests, comments, and feedback. Just let me know what you want to see and what you want to see it doing.

This isnt nothing too fancy:stung:, its just a straightforward look at some blades with real world tests and hopefully some useful information you can use. So, let me know what tests carry the most weight with you and tell me if you have a specific knife you want reviewed. I will hate them so you can love them!

Update: Since this project will be funded completely out of pocket, please don't be offended if I don't use your suggestion right away. As knives come and go, I may get ahold of your suggestion and do a test down the road. Don't give up on me though, I will do everything I can to get you the info you seek! I promise.

Thanks 8LF

I would love to see you do a real world cutting test comparing Cruwear to Elmax with the same profile angle sharpened on the same sharpening stones with the exact same finishing grit.I would like to know how these steels and knives compare to each other under real world use...The Military Cruwear sprint vs a ZT 0560 would be a great test.

Best regards,

Thank you for the idea. As this is a somewhat new project, I failed to consider angle grinds in my tests(just figured factory grind would be enough I suppose). That's why I am asking around- to open my eyes to things I may not have thought of. Thank you so much for your input and I will keep your suggestion. I just ordered a cruwear Millie so we'll see!

Production, mid-tech or custom?

I'd love to see some reviews on knives made by makers here at BF.

Daniel Fairly, (more) Fiddleback Forge and something from Hall Handmade specifically.

Also, I'd like to see some real world use reviews on friction folders and knives with titanium and titanium/carbodized blades.

:)

Looking forward to the reviews.
