Well as I was checking out in the sporting goods section in our local WalMart tonite, i glanced up and saw a nice little rifle that i decided to take a lok at... turns out, i come back to walmart later this evening and bought the thing. it is the Mossberg 100ATR bolt action rifle chambered for the 30.06 round. This rifle is built like a tank. It is not very flashy or fancy.. It is as basic as you can get but for the money and considering the company who makes them, you cant go wrong with this rifle... The price on it is $244.00 at walmart nationwide. If you are wanting a rifle that will outlive you and is built tough and rugged, BUY THIS RIFLE. Be warned though, it is not fancy. Very basic but a great hunter...

Pics are coming shortly... Work with me

10-4... i am getting my camera as we speak.. i promised the pics hours ago i know, however, i had to do an American Military History Chapter Review for Friday first... i will get them up here shortly...

Can you comment on your purchasing experience at wally world? I have bought only one firearm there and I swore it would be my last. It was terrible beyond description. However, their price was unbeatable, in retrospect I would have paid the extra 40 bucks to use a "real" gun shop.

This rifle has caught my attention also, I am all about putting function over fashion. My purchase at wally world was a NEF handi-rifle in 223. Great deal. I look forward to your range report.

Thanks Taylor... Yes. That is my rifle... I tell ya, for the $, you cant beat this rifle. It is a tough deer hunter that you dont have to worry about dinging up when dragging it into your treestand or hiking into the woods.. Makes for a great deer hunter or for any big game hunting.. Its a Mossberg, and IMO, they are one of the best gun makers out there... They make phenomenal shotguns! Their rifles are just as good.

I thought it was probably that one as you said it wasn't fancy. If you dropped it out of a tree or fell over with it, it wouldn't matter. The .308 seems to have a wooden stock.

my friend dry fired it twice the other day, do you think that this will hurt the weapon in all honesty?

ok, whew... when the idiot did it i about shit a brick. i was like WTF are you doing!!!!!! fucking morons, i swear.....

Look at it this way, some folks use dry firing as a tool to stop flinching. But, if you did want to dry fire it, or be safe for when your not knowing friends pick up yer gun, get a snap cap. The A-zoom caps are made from aluminum, they will last longer than the pachmayr plastic ones. Sometimes when you are bored and want to have redneck fun and shoot the cartoons on the tv screen, this is the ticket.

this isn't W&C, you should edit out the profanity. ;)

That is a great price for a quality bolt rifle. maybe I will have to pick one up.

As far as dry fires go, I think the only way dry fires hurt anything is with some types of rimfire actions, the pin will strike the side of the chamber and screw it up.

Some weapons require a dry fire before being field stripped (Glock comes to mind)

yes you are right about glocks rat... sorry about the language... my apologies. wont happen again.
