Just arrived yesterday and I have to say I am VERY impressed with the quality of the knife and how well it feels in my hand. First time owning a knife with CF handles and it's a different feel but I like it. I think this one will be in my pocket for quite some time I believe :D.

Congrats on the new purchase, XD45. I just ordered a Sage I of my own and am eagerly awaiting it. :D

That's some great carbon fiber to start with. IMO the best spyderco carbon fiber that retains it's beauty and offers grip. I like the peel ply CF, but it just doesn't look as good as the CF on the Sage I. Feels almost like rayskin that has been worn down a bit.

Just got mine yesterday as well! What a fantastic knife, a new all time favorite! if you don't have when you should definitely pick one up ASAP!

Glad you like it. IMHO, the maker responsible for the Sages does work which compares favorably with the best Japan has to offer.

As for the CF Soulrack, it's hard to show in a two dimensional photograph but each little "square" of the weave is a slightly raised dome. The result is a "look and feel" something like a tightly woven loop pile carpet, smooth but nubby. It doesn't provide quite as much grip as the peel ply, but shows the CF weave off much better and does offer more grip than the smooth matte CF.

I love my CF Sage!!!! I've had it for maybe six weeks now and I use it for everything. I swear I don't know what it is about the design, it is the widest FFG spydie I own, maybe that's it, I don't know, but the blade shape and the handle ergo's just work for me like no other folder I have ever owned. It just feels great in the hand and slices like a light saber. I have several other spydies, along with a few Benchmades, Kershaws, ect... and nothing works for me like the Sage. Not to mention the good looks of the woven CF scales and the incredible fit and finish. Any spydie lover that doesn't own a Sage yet definitely needs to make it number one on their buy list IMO.

This was a big thick cardboard box that a bolt-together home theater rack came in. It didn't stand a chance :D
