Hey, that's pretty cool ! At first I was puzzled about the little screwdriver & where it went...DUH! But it looks like I have to put another addition on my list of iwannas.
At this rate, I'll never save up for a Sebenza!

Yesterday I got myself a Victorinox Trailmaster. It has that same large handle shape, but the scales are black Zytel, and it has a double liner lock, for the main blade and the large screwdriver. It also has a wood saw, can opener, and the reamer and Phillips on the back.
I did not see the model you pictured at the cutlery store, but it may not be out yet.
These large models are of the usual awesome Victorinox quality, and are priced amazingly cheap!

This looks fantastic.Does anyone know what it will be priced at?
I agree about the quality of the large SAK and you can generally carry them anywhere without alarming people.I bought my son one(adventurer) for just that reason.he joined an outdoor type club at his college(hiking, canoe trips,etc.).I also had a sheath made for it by Gary Graley a forum member.I know the sheath is worth more then the knife but it is just fabulous looking and practical also.In addition he attached a small fob made of elkskin to the SAK to aid in pulling it out. These knives are priced too low in comparison to other things on the market of that quality.

I don't know if the Work Champ is or will be availible in the USA but there is a web site from a retailer in Switzerland thatwill ship you one from there. They are at www.swiss-knife.com. I have ordered from them before and they are reliable and fast (ten days with standard shipping. They carry the entire Victorinox and Wenger line. There are alot of Victorinox models not imported by the U.S. distributor, especially in the lockback models.

On the same topic of availability, the Vnox site www.victorinox.com shows a model called the LOCKSMITH which is pretty nifty.

Has all the tools on the Trailmaster which James Y picked up, plus a file. In fact, it's the only model, I believe, which has a quality file comparable to the SwissTool.

Anyone seen it for sale?

Actually, the WorkChamp is not a new model; I first became interested in it after reading a glowing review posted to rec.knives by vt@pipeline.com in January of 1997 (which, alarmingly, DejaNews can't find any more). VT got it in Hong Kong, and I've never seen it available in the US; as mentioned above, we seem to get only a subset of all the SAK models made (although, I suppose if 3000 Forum members sent them email ...

).

As Eric S points out, it's available at www.swiss-knife.com (which gets cranky if you leave the "." on the end), and actually, has been for some time -- it's been on my "must get someday" list for quite a while, but other things always seem to win out.

It's definitely a multitool alternative that you can put in your pocket, but the downside is no locking tools...

Well, I just ordered one of these from my 12 year-old son for Christmas. He's got several other SAK/Scout-type knives, but this will be his first quality knife. Every kid needs an SAK!
