...is slick as s***.

Well, it's nice too...but seriously, its super slippery.

It's got the same psuedo texturing as my tv remote. It is terrible.

The plain red original style it is supposed to be more grippy than...actually works better. The super smooth surface of the original gets tacky and grips well unless fully wet.
The semi-textured black on the OH Trekker is slick all the time.

Anyone noticed this or have any ideas how to make it grippier?

I was carrying mine today. Hot and humid around here, too. NO problem with the knife slipping.

Wash yer hands! :D

Seriously, try rubbing it down with an alcohol pad. I use them for cleaning gunk off blades, and restoring Ti handles when grease clouds the anodizing.

I added some 3-M stair gripper strip material to a Rucksack of mine. I did it more to have an abrasive surface available in the woods. Blue tip matches strike well on the surface. It is grippy as all get out.

You can also try heel savers. They are stick on rubber pads made for leather soled shoes. And if you don't care about looks and only performance you can sand the handle to make it rough.

There you go, that's what I was going to say. If it's good for a Glock, it's good for a SAK!

Great!

I have that grip tape all over my Jeep.

Will try it on the SAK today.

I have read that if your hands are extremely dry it could cause an issue with grip retention on many surfaces. I have the same knife you have (Trekker) and have never had a problem except last winter while repairing a barn roof the knife was a bit slippery in the hand. Again my hands were very dry and chaffed from the dry cold weather. A drop of hand cream and it was all good. This also happened with a G-10 Emerson. Just a thought...:)

:D

I was just watching a show the other day on the "magnetic" man. He could stick all kinds of heavy metal objects to himself, but it wasn't magnatism. His skin was so smooth and his moisture content was above normal so everything stuck to him like suction cups. So yes, if you keep your hands moist (like humidity, how it's sticky) it should provide better grip. Grip tape is just abrasive so it sticks to your hand like velcro.

Went ahead and did the grip tape.

Came out ok...it wont any awards.:D But..it's more usable now for me.
