Dave Shirley has just had a Scagel repo made by Queen. It is a single blade folder with a 3" blade. The scales are sambar stag polished for pocket carry. I had bought one of the first Scagel folders and found it a bit bulky since it was a 2 blade knife. This one is just right for carrying. The scales swell just right to fit my hand. When I took mine out of the box I sharpend it immediately to keep from putting it in the drawer. I'm going to make it an EDC to replace my Benchmade for awhile.
Bill Horn at Cumberland Knives and Billy at Vintage knives both have them now. If you're into this kind of knife do yourself a favor and check them out. They are nice. (Nicer than the first one). :)

Here is a picture from Vintage Knives (thanks Billy). The newer single blade is on top and the earlier two blade version is on the bottom. I had heard they are made by the Schatt & Morgan division of Queen.
drducati, do you or anyone else know what kind of steel they use for these models?

It is 1095.....don't think old Bill Scagel would have it any other way.... :D

How is the snap on this new Scagel folder?

I purchased several of the first edition Scagel repros from pup at VK.com as well. I like the knife as user alot in every aspect, but for the lazy blades. I thought at first this was just a flaw with the one knife. But the second knife is no different.

Both of mine snap so you best get your fingers out of the way.
The single blade is really stiff.
I bought mine from John Cable on the first and second version. I got 2 of each and both have stiff blade opening.

I had bought the two blade version when it first came out so I had little choice but to also get the single blade version. I just got it today so figured I would play show and tell. Nice snap, blade is not exactly centered but there is no blade rub, not particularly sharp out of box but the sharpmaker corrected that easily. The 1095 sharpens up nicely. This one has a half stop unlike the two blade version. A drop or two of Breakfree to smooth the opening a little and a coat of RenWax on the stag and I was good to go. (RenWax is really good stuff). Maybe not perfect as to fit and finish but I like them both and am glad I bought them.
