new scales on my bk9

looking good!!! now I have to bite:) who made them? bye the bye your book really helped me master the fire bow and hand drill:D

Those (wood?) scales REALLY dress-up the BK9 "to the nines"!.:).

Looks too dark for wood..... But then it could be dyed.

Very NICE! :D

Please tell us what material was used and the type of rivets used to secure them.

Guys,
From the picture, I would guess that those scales are scuplted linen micarta. I can't tell if he used the factory bolts and nuts, or if those are some other blackened screws.

Again, nice scales!

the scales are black micarta. the screws were replaced. they are no longer nut and bolt. now there is a double threaded ferrul inside and small allen screws on either side.attaching the scales.

I would say that the handles thickness has been reduced by 50%. the handles do have finger swells and the edges are nice and rounded.

finally the person that made them was... me. Allen Jensen guided me. but overall I took them from begining to end.

you really have to see the knife in person to appreciate the new look. the bk9 has always been a solid knife but now it feels, handles, and looks a lot better. everyone that has held it says it feels 100% better. I have already had a few people ask me to make some for them.

Wow! It gives the BK9 the look of a much more expensive knife. Since you've made it yourself, I'm sure you contoured the grip to match your hands perfectly. Nice job.

Those are very nice. I think that there are more then a few people around that would want to buy those if you made them available.

I think the reduction of grip would make a good all day carry for the smaller of the Becker series. And I think all the scales are the same right?
How much did the materials cost?

That looks hot!
That is a very nice job.
Having attempted several handles myself recently I can attest to the difficulty.
I really need a BK7 with similar handles.
Guess I'll have to attempt to not botch it up myself.

I would be interested in any guidelines you have.
Perhaps you could post a tutorial.

:)
