I don't own any Buck Knives with Stag Scales and I was wondering if any of you have sent in one of your older 110 or 112"s and had the scales replaced?? Would that be a more cost effective route to go vs building a custom with stag??

You will need to send it to a custom knife maker. Buck is not set up for accepting that type of work. I suspect even the SPA service is not a profit center but more of a customer satisfaction service. You could always order a new knife using their a-la-carte custom menu. Elk is currently offered. Alternatively, watch the bay for an older original stag, they are sometimes much nicer. Personally I prefer the older original Buck Sambar Stag with 'bark'. Something you dont get with the newer elk generally.

Thanks! I've been looking on the Bay but just haven't "won" YET...

I recently went thru the Buck custom shop as well as a old Buck employee who works on and builds custom Bucks. I'm not sure if Buck themselves even have any stag and the custom guy said he had some but when I mentioned it and he whistled and said, it's very expensive.
That's why I went with elk as you see here.

Copy that. Yea, from my understanding, stag comes from India, elk comes from a lot of states here.
I could turn you onto Uncle Leroy who used to work for Buck and built my knife but know that he's moving from CA to OK and may be temporarily shutting down. You can get his contact info by locating Triple R Knives.com
