"Hello,

I’m a Belgian instructor in survival, search and rescue. I give a lot of lessons to military people about survival gear.

My question is: Is it possible to send me a free evaluation sample to test, I like the 6732 the most.

This is also a good advertisement for your company, when I evaluate it with my students. I can send you a feedback if you want. This will help you also in designing future products.

Kind regards,

I personally don't feel that I need anyone else to evaluate my knives. My own testing and the feedback I've gotten back from my customers over the years tells me I'm on the right track. However, some of you might want to talk to this person and see what it's about. I would be interested in hearing about it.

You might ask in the European Community section and see if anyone knows him.

don't you just hate that  :)
tell him you'll do that only if he pays for it first and when all the good advertising works out for you you'll refund his money

see if he's so sure it will work out as well as he says then..
trust, works two ways right,,,:D

I may add
finding guys to do this for is more profitable than them finding you.:)

Sure, no problem.

But shipping is $385 USD paid up-front. ;) :D

I bet that he is currently on assignment in Kenya or Nigeria:barf: and you have to ship through some local shipper and he will pay you back the shipping cost after your handmade knife gets there.

The Shipping company will bill you like 3000.00 and he will have a nice knife.

This is a variation on a ebay scam.:barf:

I think I'll go over to Porsche this morning, explain that I'm a real good driver and ask them to give me a free car to "test."

Found some info
He is part of a military unit (1e jagers te paard 1JP) in the Belgium Army. This is a RECCE unit (reconaissance) based in Leopoldsburg Belgium
His INT phonenumber is 0032486476475,

He is a member of a hardrockband called "Double Diamond"
http://www.doublediamond.be/

He is not known among "knowledgable people" in the Belgium Military as a Combat Instructor, nor is there ANY trace of him within the Belgium (or International )Self Defense scene.
He is an active member of a military unit. He is probably looking for a good FREE knife.

btw, i checked his preference toward the model 6732, very nice knife, but not in a long shot usable as a field Army knife.

I would email his offer and the information Mongo-man came up with to the Belgian ambassador and the Belgian Military.I am sure they would be interested. The quicker scams get stopped the fewer people will try them.If you do nothing he will just try another mark until he gets someone more gullible.

Asking for free stuff isn't an international crime allthough this guy's commanding officer might be able to put a stop to his foolishness. It sure reflects badly on the Belgian military.

There are a good many jokers out there claiming to be things they're not... actuially the Net is one of their favorite places!

I'm right behind you Kevin. I have a real soft spot for 911"s!!! :) Mike

We got it too. Every once-in-awhile something like this pops up. I just tell 'em I'm too busy....it's usually true anyway. This isn't a hobby for us, it's our only living so it's tough to give things away.

Sitting in a bar (or on the Internet) and telling everyone you are a big time knife instructor is not a crime.Soliciting from multiple makers by Internet and trying to obtain merchandise by false statement is a crime in many countries (excluding Nigeria). It is called many things in different countries - mail fraud, wire fraud, larceny by false pretense, etc.
I tend to think the Belgian Military would not put up with this conduct any more than most other countries Armed Forces would. Many military rules specifically forbid any form of solicitation using current active duty military service as a qualification or endorsement,( even if the statements are true).

I guess just sending this guy an email stating the fact that his identity has been confirmed and that 90% of commercial and proffesional knifemakers on this globe visit these forums, will probably scare him off.

The fact that he asks for a free knife under a false statement COULD be seen upon as "attempted fraud" ("poging tot misbruik van vertrouwen", artikelen 489 of the Belgium penal Code).

Of course the Belgium public prosecutor is the one who decides if he will bring this to court or not, due to the fact that the crime is commited against foreign nationals, and the difficulties involved in an international crime investigation.

What is more important is that when a complaint is filed in the U.S.A. the crimes is considered a federal crime because of the use of the internet.
This is where the F.B.I. steps in. :).

An online complaint can be filed on this website.

I suspect he may be safe.
He doesn't ID himself as a member of the millitary, so he's probably safe there, and it wouldn't take much to show that he's some kind of "survival instructor". Plus I'm sure he would be happy to provide "feedback" of some sort.
I don't see a crime here, just a guy hoping to find a knifemaker that hasn't been using the right respirator.
