Ain't been around much lately
Been a pretty busy summer so far! But I was reading an article in this months Knife World that I thought might be of some interest here.
Queen is going to start producing in 2011 their new annual S&M series to replace the "keystone" series. The Heritage Series is based on 2 old S&M catalogs a 1903 & `08. The catalogs are being reproduced by David Clark and according to the article Mr. Clark was instrumental in idea of this series.
What Queen is going to do is take 1 page a year from either catalog & reproduce the knives on that page. Blade steel, blade finishes, pulls, handle material, shields even some talk about finding a source for "Norway Iron" for some bolsters!!
Apparently the 1903 catalog is a relatively new find and it was C.B. Morgan's personal copy. It has 54 pages while the `08 has 130 pages.
I am looking forward to the catalogs arriving & seeing what Queen produces in the 1st set. I would say that this is pretty traditional and with S&M/Queens history in U.S. cutlery might just be a step back in time.
