New Schempp Rock

Thank you for the gorgeous pics!

I've been wanting one since I first saw it. I'm considering pulling the trigger now, but think that the (lighter) Street Bowie might be in order - it's even more affordable, has a straight edge (easier to sharpen) and is super light. But I can't get past the drop-dead sexy looks of the Schempp Rock. Any thoughts on comparing the two? I'm thinking the primary use for either would be "camp knife" for me (cooking, wood/fire prep).

From what you say- Schempp Rock all the way :) I have a new Perrin Street Bowie. The Schempp is in a different class imo. Don't get me wrong, for $90 the Perrin cant be beat imo. 5" of FFG VG10 is awesome. However, for $140 or possibly less, the Schempp is an equally if not better value - again, all my opinion.
And thank you for the kind words regarding the pics. I appreciate that.

I also have a new Perrin Street Bowie but that Schempp Rock is going in the cart tonight. Love it...

Anyone know the difference between the Schempp Rock and the Schempp Rock Camp? Other than the price I cannot see any difference or tell any difference in the write ups.

beautiful pictures, the schempp rock is a nice piece, kinda miss the H1 version as we are surrounded by the sea and the climates aint that forgiving.

the lightweight is great but perhaps some additional thickness on the blade will be better.

Yeah, the original Schempp Rock Salt w/the H1 blade was really neat. However, I really much prefer the new Schempp Rock version with its FFG VG10 blade. It should be an excellent slicer as well as a camp knife in general.
And, thank you for the comment.

The only different version that Im aware of is the original Schempp Rock Salt. Which had H1 steel and was not a full flat grind (FFG) blade. Im glad to see that your getting one. I think youll really like it!

I believe advertising it as the Schempp Rock Camp was just some advertising gimmick. Anyway, mine is on order and will be here next week while I am at my mothers taking care of her for a week.
