I just bought a 147 in good condition. The tang is stamped Schrade Walden Ny USA 147It has the old style sheath that has slits for your belt to pass thru and is laced rather than stitched. I has a composite handle rather than leather. Can someone tell me if the scales are ordinary plastic or delrin and about when the knife was made. Thanks

A picture would help immensely.

A Schrade 197 wasn't a known fixed blade pattern, Winchester. There were 137's, 147's, and 497's. Check your pattern number.

At least provide some blade lengths, full knife lengths, and blade type if you can't put up a picture.

I bet it's a 497S with Staglon (Delrin handles) 1973 to 1977 it's an 8 3/4" knife with a 4 1/2" sabre ground clip. Is this it?

But that I were any good at putting them on the forum. Do you know if they were made of delrin handles.

Correction folks. My bad. It's a 147.Blade is about 4.5" and total length about 8.5"The tang has Schrade Walden NY USA 147 It is carbon steel and I know it is the predessor to the 497.
