This morning, before I met my girlfriend for lunch, I walked through a local flea market to see what was available. At one seller's stall, I found a Schrade Old Timer trapper. The main clip blade is stamped "SCHRADE U.S.A. 960T". Aside from some slight scratches on both the bolsters and handle scales and some very light rust/spotting on the backsprings, liners and blades, it is in brand new condition, both blades unused, with the factory edge intact.

The most interesting feature(s) to me, of this particular knife, aside from the 1095 steel and USA-made-Schrade cachet, are the brass-handled steel toothpick and pair of excellent tweezers that slide into slots on the butt of the knife. I'll have some photos up in a day or two, but I just wanted to share my new find. It's definitely going to get some pocket time when I finish cleaning out the joints. :D

Sounds good, cannot wait for the pictures. You should also post it in the Schrade area.

Nice find. I have a couple of the US-made Old Timers, and they're solid knives.

Thanks for all the replies! I actually went looking specifically for Old Timers and Schrades, and that seller seems like he might have a few more interesting pieces in his case.

I've shot the knife out with and dunked it in WD-40, and the blades' snap has improved some. Still not as much walk-and-talk as my dad's old TL-29, which has become the yardstick for me of slipjoint spring tension, but better than it was before I cleaned it. The red rust cleaned right off, leaving only some dark stains with no pitting. I *really* like the tweezers that came with this, they have some real authority.

BobW, that is very interesting. I knew Schrade had a multitude of Old Timer patterns, but I am going to keep my eyes open for that Buzz Saw.

Here are the photos.
