How is the new company owned by "Taylor LLC"? I don't know i think its something with Taylor...

You may find that is a loaded question around here! the knives compared with the USA models are not as finely tuned as the originals, the fit and finish are sub par. The Taylor Schrade ownership has not gone down well with a lot of forum members.

The Taylor branded Schrades started out very poorly with quality control issues and poor steel in the blades. Over the past year there seems to be an improvement, in at least the few models I have handled. I wish they would go back to carbon steel blades for the OT series at least, seems that it would be less expensive than stainless and result in a better blade.

Moose, it's all very devious. many of the Taylor Schrades are close mimics of the originals in appearance, so that distinguishing an original pre-2004 Schrade from a post closure Taylor Schrade, with images only (like ebay), can be difficult.
also a few models are made in USA and from the few posts i have seen, the quality seems reasonable. however, i think they still lack that special "something" that makes original Schrades, Schrade Waldens and Schrade Cut. Co. knives so appealing. roland

They're worth what people who are not being duped generally pay for them...couple of bucks for a crapp knife..the buyers generally caring about as much about quality and fit as the makers, IMHO. Hoo Roo

I had to find out for myself,so the other day I checked out a Taylor 194ot and a 34ot at my local Tractor Supply Store. Compared them to the USA Schrade 194ot and 34ot that were in my pockets,I was not impressed.

My 9 year old son thought his Imperial 2 bladed Jackmaster and Ulster BSA were of better quality as well.:)

Gotta start'em young
